The more you know!

So today I have something a little different!

I asked the lovely Rachel some deep and meaningful random and awesome questions. Can I just say she has great taste in movies?! And she lives in a really interesting city! Intriguing, yes? Here we go!

source

 1. If you could go back to any age you've been so far, what would it be and why?

Hm...21, I wasn't the smartest person out there and made some mistakes I wish I could undo. I'm a better person now, but I hurt others and I wish I could take that back.

2. Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Morning person. I would rather go to bed early and get up early than stay up late if work needs to be done. However, I'll party like a rockstar all night if I'm with fun people and the time is flying by.

3. Coffee, tea, or something else?

I used to drink coffee. But I don't like it black, and all the other crap (white chocolate caramel mocha anyone?) isn't very good for you. So i quite coffee. I'm acclimating myself to green tea with honey. My fave is the loose leaf packets by Tazo.

4. What's something you'd recommend a visitor to do for fun if they came to your city/town?

Geez. I'm in Las Vegas, the city of anything goes. Personally, I love the hiking out at Red Rock Canyon on the edge of the city. But if you're into the lights, glamour, and crazy people- the Beatles LOVE show by Cirque de Soleil is pretty good too.

5. What's your favorite song at the moment?

Pirate Flag by Kenny Chesney. Beat this Summer by Brad Paisley. Cruise by Florida Georgia Line. (Have you noticed the country trend-take from that what you will about me) I'm a HUGE music fan. I can never pick just one.

6. Would you consider yourself more imaginative or practical?

Um, I don't know. I suppose it depends on what its in reference to. My hubby would probably call me imaginative, because he tends to think I'm not very practical.

7. Favorite season? Why?

Oh how I miss the fall. The southwest desert has two seasons- hot and cold. It will literally change overnight without warning and no build up. Plus, we don't have many trees or plants here and I miss the changing of the leaves.

8. Last book you read? Did you like it?

I'm almost done with The Apothecary by Maile Meloy. It's a little younger than my usual preferences, but it's really well written. It's a great story of suspense, magic, and growing up, but not in a way that I've seen a ton of before.

9. What is your earliest memory?

I was 4 or 5 and somehow got up on my mom's sewing table. I managed to get a hold of her rotary cutter (cutter=sharp) and slice open my thumb. It hurt pretty bad and there was a lot of blood.

10. Five favorite movies of all time?

OOOH! I totally just had this conversation with a co-worker, so I'm ready for this question! (Sidenote-all time really means at the moment, because the next movie I see could, ya know, knock one off.)
    1. The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (I've concluded that series movies count as 1-no it's not cheating)
    2. Harry Potter movies
    3. The Sherlock Holmes movies (the newest ones with Robert Downey Jr.)
    4. The Avengers (which includes all the individual super hero movies-my Hubby got me hooked)
    5. The Princess Bride
Did you like how I got out of naming just 5?

Super cool, right?! Except that cutter blade story, ouch! Thanks for taking the time to answer these, Rachel!

Coffee Talk

Today I've decided to answer a few questions from Coffee Talk over at 23Seventeen!

1. Do you drink the milk after eating cereal or do you dump it out?

I usually drink it, unless it's a cereal that makes the milk taste weird.

2. Do you share drinks/food?

Only if I'm done and I want Justin to finish it. I'm kind of a germphobe and don't like anyone touching my food.

 3. How often do you replace your toothbrush?

After few months, or sooner if it's looking worn out.

4. How often do you wash your hair?

Every other day, unless I'm going to wear it down two days in a row.

5. Do you use a dishwasher or do you hand wash your dishes?

Hand wash because our current house doesn't have a dishwasher. I don't mind it all that much....unless there are a million things to wash.

Liebster Award!

I got a happy surprise when I checked my blog this morning! Stephili from Heart Soul Inspiration  nominated me for the Liebster Award!

I've never been nominated for anything related to blogging, so I'm super excited! Thank you so much Stephili

Eleven things about me
1.  I collect vintage dishes. My dream is to find some super pretty Pyrex to display once I get a cabinet for them! Like these lovelies...
2.  Working at a craft store (Hobby Lobby) means I have a million ideas for projects, but not enough time in the day to make them. Le sigh.
3.  Every time I see a photo of Little Richard, it makes me giggle. It's not that I don't respect the guy, I know he's a legendary singer. But that mustache! For the longest time I thought he was wearing lip liner. I can't be the only one, right?

4.  I envy people who are good at doing their hair. I try my hardest and the best I can do is messy buns and waves. My dream is to master french braiding because it's so pretty.

5.  Owls are my favorite animals; I have them arranged throughout my house.

6.  I love the game Clue and the movie based on it. I'm always Miss Scarlett when I play.

7. There is a baby squirrel that lives in the tree in front of our house, but I've yet to get a photo of him; he's too quick!

8.  I dislike any sort of yard work. Shoveling snow, mowing, raking leaves...I hate it all.

9.  I have a weakness for sweets. My favorites are peanut butter cups and saltwater taffy.

10.  I went to art school for awhile, but had to drop out when it got too expensive.

11. I'm fascinated by photos from New York City in the 1970s. I'm not sure why, because I obviously wasn't around then and have never been there. Yet I could look at photos like this for hours.

Stephili's Questions

1. If you could live in any time period which would you choose to live in and why?

I would want to live in the 60s or 70s. From what I've gathered through pictures and books it was such an interesting time to be alive. That and I really like 60s fashions.

2. Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

I have two. I'm inspired by my mom, because she's always there for me and is a hard worker in everything she does, yet she still knows how to relax and have fun. My other inspiration is Anna Karina, mostly for her style and the films she's been in, but also she seems like she'd be a cool lady to meet.

3. You just won $2 Million in the lottery…. What are you going to do with the money?

Pay off my loans and the rest of my bills. Buy a new car and some new clothes. Make a down payment on a house. Get some presents for Justin and my family. Then put the rest in savings.

4. What is your favorite quote?

"I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."
~Albert Einstein

5. Do you like sunny days or rainy days more?

I like a mixture of both. Like when a day starts out rainy and then the sun comes out.

6. What is your favorite holiday and why?

Either the 4th of July or Halloween, I like fireworks and warm weather, but also pumpkins and costumes.

7. What has been the most memorable moment in your life so far?

The day Justin proposed to me. I'll remember that day forever!

8. Post a picture of where you’re from and tell us a little about it.

I live in an average sized city in Iowa. It's a nice place to live; a good mix of things to do without being surrounded by gazillions (that's probably not a word, is it?) of people.

9. You get to pick where you want to eat. Where is it and what kind of food is served?

I'm by no means a restaurant expert. Take me somewhere with good mushroom pasta and I'll be happy!

10. List 3 things in your life that mean everything to you.

Justin. My family. My coworkers. I've met some of my best friends at work and they've become my second family.

11. What do you love the most about blogging?

Getting to express my thoughts and meet new friends!

My questions for you...

1.  If you could go back to any age you've been so far, what would it be and why?
2.  Favorite color?
3.  Are you a morning person or a night owl?
4.  Coffee, tea, or something else?
5.  What's something you'd recommend a visitor to do for fun if they came to your city/town?
6.  What's your favorite song at the moment? I need some new tunes!
7.  Would you consider yourself more imaginative or practical?
8.  Do you have any pets? What kind and what are their names?

Today I'm here to show you what I got in the jewelry swap I participated in, sponsored by Melissa of The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife!

I actually received two pieces of jewelry; on the left is an orange link bracelet and on the right is a flower necklace! I love them both and am searching for just the right picture to put in the middle of the flower!

This is the card that came with it :) Thank you so much to Jess of Mish Mashed Mama for sending these lovely pieces to me!

Currently

I've seen this post on various blogs over the years but have never done it myself....until now! (I don't remember exactly which blogs, sorry!)

Obsessing over: Going for walks at night. It's been WAY too hot here lately...like 103 degrees hot. But when it's not I love walking with Justin around our neighborhood. I especially like spotting adorable dogs and cute babies...I just might have a touch of baby fever ;)

Working on: Making my little blog more attractive! I know next to nothing about html so I'm really limited on what I can do. I would love a custom design but feel like I can't really justify it when I'm pretty much the only person who sees it.

Thinking about: finishing reading Valley of the Dolls, I'm almost done. I wish the movie was still on Netflix because I would enjoy watching it again. Movies with era-specific outfits are my favorite, and this one is the epitome of 60s fashion to me...so many pretty outfits!

Anticipating: doing some shopping with my sister this afternoon. Payday, why are you still three days away?! I need my new clothes fix!

Listening to: the Best Coast station on Pandora....right now the song is Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear. I've never listened to them before and I'm enjoying it.

Drinking: So far I've only had water today, but I would love some coffee or soda.

Wishing:  That Justin and I were already married :) We're already pretty much there; we live together, pay bills, talk about everything, etc.
