The Sunday Currently #1

Linking up with Lauren for this post!

Currently
reading: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I read her newest book, Gone Girl about a month ago and loved it, so I decided to check out her other work. And guess what, this one is just as good!

writing checks for bills that need paying. The joys of being a full-fledged adult.

listening: to Justin's workout playlist. I think I've succeeded in getting him hooked on pop music!

thinking: about how I need to have breakfast for dinner more often. Cheerios and orange juice, don't mind if I do!

smelling: rain, it makes everything smell amazing.

wishing: that my hair would be highlighted for free, without me having to do anything. I don't trust myself to do it, but I don't want to pay $$ either.

hoping: that we find a house to rent soon. The one we wanted didn't work out, so we're back to hunting.

wearing: sweats and a hoodie, comfort is key on Sundays.

loving: my new polos from Aero. Haven't had any since high school (that would be 8 years ago, for anyone who's keeping track) but today I suddenly decided I wanted to wear them again!

wanting: warm spring weather, not this weird 40 degree stuff.

needing: I'm actually pretty content at the moment. Give me some snuggles with my man and I'm a happy lady!

feeling: Relaxed. And like I need to get back to my book when I'm done with this.

clicking: this site, because I'm a nerd who can literally spend hours reading about urban legends.

Rants, Raves and Randoms #1

Hey all!

I got the inspiration for this post from the lovely Andrea oLeft Brain, Right Brain, Pug Brain!

Here we go!

Rants:

~ I went out to my car this morning and saw this
No, not the creepy shadow, that's me.  Some moron knocked the side mirror off my car last night. I have a feeling it was one of the neighbors; they had a party. Morons.

~ Another car-related issue: my brakes squeak every time I use them. I'm starting to feel like a new car is on the horizon.

~ I've had it up to HERE with our roommate and his ignorance of household chores, particularly the dishes. Today was what felt like the tenth time that I've had to clean nasty, smelly dishes that aren't mine or Justin's. He's always cooking these elaborate meals that use every pan we own right after his turn doing the dishes. Then I get stuck doing them. Well, not anymore. He's going to hear about it when he gets back.

Raves:

~ My hair is red now and I love it! It's been four years since I did anything with the color, so I decided it was time for a change! You can't really see a difference in this photo, I'll have to get a better one when it's not in a ponytail.
~ My mom brought me a record player during her last visit! Love me some Madonna!
~ Justin surprised me with a pumpkin pie after work one night! I don't have a photo because I ate it, but it was sooooo good!

~ Last night I went to a Halloween party! Two friends and I dressed up as the witches from Hocus Pocus. It was a blast! That's me in the middle :)

Randoms:

~ The Hunger Games series. I said I was never going to read it, blah blah. Well now I am. And it's quite good.

~ I've been doing quite a bit of crafting lately. Pinterest, you have sucked me in. Once I've made enough things, I'll share!

~ I work Wednesday night, so I won't be home to hand out candy to trick or treaters. Sigh...maybe next year!

Time for me to read some more Catching Fire, tootles!

Thrifting treasures!

So you've all been waiting on the edge of your seats to see what I got, no?

First, the clothes
purple skirt

dress (F21 tags still on it!)

Then I found 4 books...

and a little owl figurine.
Then to top it all off, Justin picked up these lovelies for me on his way home from work! I love my fiance :)
Here we have Justin, in his very first appearance on here!
I was going through his Instagram just now asking which photo he wanted me to post and this was the winner...it was between this and one of him in a bowtie.
You want to see that now too, don't you?
Thought so.

Epicness.

If you really knew me

(I'm pretty sure I've seen this topic on almost every blog I follow, now it's my turn!)

If you really knew me, you'd know that I'm addicted to Starbucks Frappuccinos, the ones in the glass bottles. Doesn't matter what kind, I love them all!

If you really knew me, you'd probably think I have slight ADD, because my conversations are all over the place. One minute I'm pondering what I want for lunch and before you know it I'm going on about whether owls have eyebrows. For the record, they do. :)

If you really knew me, you'd know I really love scary shows. Put on some old episodes of Unsolved Mysteries or Disappeared and I'll be glued to the tv for hours, only tearing myself away to look up more information online. Sometimes I think I should have gotten a criminology degree.
If you really knew me, you'd know that I've wanted to be a ballerina since the age of four, despite being hopelessly uncoordinated. I took a ballet class in college and let's just say it was....interesting. Luckily, I can wear ballet-esque outfits to my heart's desire to make up for it.
If you really knew me, you'd know I'm always searching for new books and music to obsess over. So if you can introduce me to something I end up loving, we'll probably be besties for life.
That was fun! Let me know in the comments if you decide to do this or already have, so I can check it out!

I'm still here, don't worry!

Did I scare you all? Did you think I was gone forever? Nope, I'm back!

What have I been up to?

I got glasses! (Not the best photo but you get the idea.)

Went to the state fair, where I met a large rooster....

and hung out with two of my coworkers, Virginia and Ally!

Made inappropriate bracelets with Ally!

Sat on the deck and read!

As you can see, I've been super busy :) I'm off to catch up on all my blogs now!

Currently

I've seen this post on various blogs over the years but have never done it myself....until now! (I don't remember exactly which blogs, sorry!)

Obsessing over: Going for walks at night. It's been WAY too hot here lately...like 103 degrees hot. But when it's not I love walking with Justin around our neighborhood. I especially like spotting adorable dogs and cute babies...I just might have a touch of baby fever ;)

Working on: Making my little blog more attractive! I know next to nothing about html so I'm really limited on what I can do. I would love a custom design but feel like I can't really justify it when I'm pretty much the only person who sees it.

Thinking about: finishing reading Valley of the Dolls, I'm almost done. I wish the movie was still on Netflix because I would enjoy watching it again. Movies with era-specific outfits are my favorite, and this one is the epitome of 60s fashion to me...so many pretty outfits!

Anticipating: doing some shopping with my sister this afternoon. Payday, why are you still three days away?! I need my new clothes fix!

Listening to: the Best Coast station on Pandora....right now the song is Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear. I've never listened to them before and I'm enjoying it.

Drinking: So far I've only had water today, but I would love some coffee or soda.

Wishing:  That Justin and I were already married :) We're already pretty much there; we live together, pay bills, talk about everything, etc.

Sunday

It's been a typical Sunday here at our house. My dad and brother came to visit earlier, along with my sister and her boyfriend. We went to Amigos for lunch. I had enchiladas and a taco; it was so good! After that we all went to B&N to look at books. I bought a book I've wanted for a long time, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I remember reading it a few years ago and really loving it, so I'm excited to read it again. Then we stopped by Target and I found a cute skirt that I'll be able to wear to work...score! While waiting for the rest of the family to finish their shopping Justin and I got some coffee and chatted about our weekend. He was gone Friday and Saturday doing some ghost hunting. Some friends of his are the founders of CCPI, and they investigate abandoned/possibly haunted places. Too scary for me, so I never go, but I like hearing about it!

Here are a few pictures from today...

Before we left for lunch

Justin looking awesome
Sitting pretty at Starbucks
Best cookie crumble frap ever!
Justin and our roommate David are watching some Doctor Who now, so I'm gonna read my new book and kick back for the rest of the night.
